**Bhopal Police Expand Probe into Fraudster Posing as IAS Officer**
**BHOPAL:** The legal net is tightening around Tripti Singh, a woman accused of orchestrating a sophisticated fraud ring by masquerading as a trainee IAS officer and an Additional Director at Madhya Pradesh Tourism (MPT).
The Bagsevania police have registered a fresh First Information Report (FIR) against Singh, her brother Sudhanshu Singh, and an associate named Prakhar, marking the fourth case filed against the group across the state.
### The Rs 50 Lakh Scam
The latest complaint was lodged by 31-year-old Gagan Upvanshi, a resident of Seoni. According to the police, the accused trio allegedly leveraged their fabricated credentials to gain the victim’s trust, promising to facilitate a lucrative hotel lease agreement through the state tourism department.
Upvanshi alleged that he transferred approximately Rs 50 lakh to the accused under the guise of lease processing fees. When the promised deal failed to materialize after months of delays, the victim conducted his own investigation, discovering that Singh held no official government position.
“The suspects used the influence of a fake official title to deceive the complainant,” said a senior official familiar with the investigation. Following a preliminary probe into the allegations, Bagsevania police formally charged the trio with fraud and related offenses late Tuesday night.
### A Pattern of Deception
This marks the second case registered at the Bagsevania police station alone. Previously, a Balaghat resident filed a complaint alleging that the same group swindled them out of Rs 39.17 lakh. In that instance, the accused allegedly promised to secure both hotel leases and government job placements. Of that amount, only Rs 1 lakh was ever returned, according to police records.
### Ongoing Investigation
Tripti Singh is currently in custody in connection with two separate cases previously filed in Ashoknagar. To consolidate the investigation, a police team from Bhopal has been dispatched to Ashoknagar to secure her production remand.
Authorities believe that Singh’s interrogation will be pivotal in dismantling what appears to be a broader network of deception. “Once we have her in custody, we expect to uncover the full extent of this fraud ring and identify any other individuals who may have facilitated these crimes,” a police spokesperson stated.
As the investigation continues, officials are urging other potential victims to come forward, noting that the scale of the financial fraud may be significantly higher than currently reported.
