## Tragedy in Ujjain: 9-Year-Old Boy Killed in Tractor-Trolley Accident Days Before Birthday
**UJJAIN** – A joyous milestone turned into a scene of profound grief in Ujjain’s Raj Royal Colony on Tuesday evening, as a 9-year-old boy was struck and killed by a tractor-trolley while running a neighborhood errand.
The victim, identified as Saurabh Chavand, was riding his bicycle to a local grocery store when the fatal collision occurred. According to local authorities, the tractor-trolley involved in the incident was engaged in ongoing sewerage work in the Chimanganj Mandi police station area.
Saurabh, who suffered critical injuries, was rushed to a nearby hospital by bystanders and family members. Despite the medical team’s efforts, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. His body was released to his grieving family on Wednesday morning following a post-mortem examination.
**A Birthday Cut Short**
The tragedy has left the local community devastated, particularly due to its proximity to a planned celebration. Saurabh’s family shared that he was just 13 days shy of his 10th birthday, which was set to be marked on September 15. The young boy is survived by his parents—his father works as a painter—and his 13-year-old brother.
**Police Investigation Underway**
Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Chimanganj Mandi Station House Officer (SHO) Vivek Kanodiya confirmed that the driver of the tractor-trolley fled the scene immediately following the collision and remains at large.
“We have seized the tractor-trolley involved in the incident and have brought it to the police station,” SHO Kanodiya stated. “Efforts are currently underway to track down the driver, and further legal action will be taken based on our findings.”
The incident has sparked renewed concerns regarding the safety protocols and traffic management surrounding construction vehicles operating in residential neighborhoods.
