**Katni: Savarna Samaj Rallies for Economic-Based Reservation Reform**
**DHIMARKHEDA, KATNI:** Demanding a fundamental shift in India’s reservation policy, members of the Savarna community gathered in large numbers at the Mangal Bhawan in Dhimarkheda on Tuesday to advocate for the implementation of economic-based reservation.
The event, which saw significant participation from local residents and community leaders, centered on the argument that affirmative action should be determined by financial status rather than caste. Proponents of the movement argued that an economic-based framework would ensure that the benefits of reservation reach the truly underprivileged across all segments of society.
**A Call for Unity**
The proceedings commenced with a solemn tribute to ‘Bharat Mata,’ led by Saint Brahmanand Maharaj. Following the ceremonial inauguration, a series of speakers addressed the assembly, emphasizing the need for unity within the community and a restructuring of the current reservation system to address modern socio-economic realities.
“Reservation must be an equalizer based on financial necessity, not an identity-based privilege,” one speaker noted during the session. The assembly also deliberated on various other pressing issues facing the community, underscoring a collective push for policy reform.
**Disciplined Protest and Memorandum**
Following the indoor session, the gathering transformed into a disciplined protest march. Participants moved from the Mangal Bhawan to the local bus stand, carrying placards and chanting slogans calling for legislative change. The rally concluded at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office.
A delegation of community representatives formally submitted a memorandum addressed to the President of India to SDM Nidhi Gohal. The document outlines the community’s primary demands, specifically calling for the abolition of caste-based quotas in favor of an economic-based model.

SDM Nidhi Gohal acknowledged the memorandum and assured the delegation that their concerns would be forwarded to the central government in accordance with established administrative procedures.
To maintain public order, Dhimarkheda Police Station In-charge Mahima Raghuvanshi was present throughout the event with a dedicated police contingent. The authorities confirmed that the rally remained peaceful and disciplined throughout its duration, concluding without any security disruptions.
