# MP Police Reshuffle: Cyber Cell Gets New ADG; 78 Inspectors Demoted Following Review
**BHOPAL** – In a significant administrative overhaul, the Madhya Pradesh Home Department has announced a major promotion in the state’s cyber security wing, alongside a corrective demotion drive affecting 78 police officers across the state.
### Cyber Cell Leadership Upgrade
Niranjan B. Vayangankar, previously serving as the Inspector General (IG) of the Cyber Cell, has been promoted to the rank of Additional Director General (ADG). He will now lead the Cyber Cell in his new capacity as ADG, marking a strategic strengthening of the department’s leadership.
### Mass Demotions Following Review
In a separate development, the Police Headquarters (PHQ) has initiated a corrective action process following a review of recent departmental promotions.
The PHQ has revoked the promotions of 78 officers—ranging from acting inspectors to sub-inspectors—who were previously elevated despite pending departmental inquiries, ongoing court cases, or existing disciplinary sanctions. These officers have now been reverted to their former ranks.
The review highlights a rigorous push for accountability within the force. According to official records, the decision to rescind these promotions stems from the discovery that these individuals were ineligible due to active legal or departmental proceedings at the time their elevation was processed on July 13, 2026.
### Impact on Promotions
The scope of the reshuffle extends beyond the demotions. A departmental promotion committee (DPC) review revealed a significant bottleneck in other ranks as well: of the 169 subedars who were acting as Reserve Inspectors, only 30 successfully secured full promotions to the post of Reserve Inspector.
The list of officers reverted to their previous ranks includes personnel stationed across various districts, including Bhopal Urban, Gwalior, Indore, Jabalpur, Morena, and Satna. Notable names affected by the order include Suresh Kumar Meena, Kuldeep Singh Rajput, Bhanu Pratap Singh Bhawedi, and Shweta Maurya, among others.
### PHQ Stance
A spokesperson for the Police Headquarters clarified that while the promotions of these 78 officers have been canceled due to procedural lapses regarding their disciplinary records, the promotions of other officers who met the clean-record criteria remain unaffected and in full effect.
This move is being viewed as part of the state’s ongoing efforts to maintain strict adherence to service rules and ensure that only officers with unblemished records ascend to higher responsibilities within the Madhya Pradesh Police force.
